I think the mood for raya hasn't end yet. hehe. As for Malays, we visit each others' houses to ask forgiveness and as well as to meet each other and spend time together. Raya is a very massive or should I say as the biggest celebration among Malays beside Hari Raya Haji and Maal Hijrah. okay, let skip the facts because in this post, i want to tell you about my problem every time Raya is around the corner. it's about Aurat and Salam. :)
first of all, let me tell you about myself, before you start judging for who i am. I'm a muslim, but as a true muslim? nahh. i'm on my way to be better, i suppose. i'm not properly cover my aurat, err. i still fail in covering my feets (as i am too comfortable in wearing selipar jamban at public places) and still fail in wearing loose dresses ( as sometimes my cardigans are too fit at the arm-part), etc. i'm just a typical muslim, i repeat, typical. i know la, my hair is aurat, my palm is not aurat, yadda yadda. BUT, sometimes, i feel like a dumb person when it comes about covering my aurat every time raya is coming, or should i say like emm, i'm a bit confuse about the aurat part when people are coming to my house.
as a host, you know, i am too busy in preparing dishes, setting up the table, doing marathon from the living room to the kitchen, taking care of the children, blablabla. it's a really tiring job, so i need a proper, yet comfortable clothes to wear. if my mum is not around, i'll probably pick Tshirt and tracksuit. but you know, the mums will never ever and ever let you wear tshirt! so, i wear baju kurung instead. at first, you will look very "ayu" in that outfit. somehow later, baju kurung is quite err hot, making you generate more sweat than ever! so what will i do? i start pulling up the hand part, making my hand to be exposed till the elbow area. i'm more likely to pull off my tudung, and expose my hair. i will prefer to do ponytail, as long as it's short enough so that my head and my neck can breathe. hehe.
okay, now the point is, i have to cover my aurah (all parts except the palm and face area) if only there's non-muhrim guests around. that rule is simple, as my guests are only involving my family and my relatives. i know the limits ! unfortunately, the problem starts when this cousin married this guy, and that ipar-segala-bagai come to my house. it's AWKWARD to fully cover my aurat in my own house, or should i say, in my kitchen, my living hall, and so-forth. there's one day, when i was "willingly" expose my hair to my cousin's husband. i was totally forgot that he is my ajnabi, the man that i'm possible to marry! i dont realised this thing until they left my home. at that point, for the first time of my life, i felt so guilty! i've made mistakes, just like that. heh. the day after that incident happened, my other cousin came with her husband. spontaneously, i asked my brother, "weh, suami si akak tu kira emm, kira bukan muhrim aku la kan? so, aku emm kene pakai tudung ke?". with a weird face, he replied " err. a'ah. haa. ye lah. kene, kene". i bet, my brother mesti confuse dengan soalan cepumas tu. anyway, i just smiled, and quickly wear any tudung that fits me at that time (which i have to wear other clothes as there was only bright red tudung around) hehe.
see? it's not easy to be a girl. you have to know your own limit; with whom you can tanggal your tudung, with whom you can salam. senang cer, wear tudung everytime people come to your home, kan? (which i find it's hard to do now. i think i'll get used to it soon). about the salam thing, i just make a simple rule; salam all people (such as your dad, your bro, your uncle, your atok) except MEN like your male cousins yang berbini/takde bini, pak sepupu yg bukan saudara terdekat dengan kita, mcm belah pupu-pupu apetah yang aku tak paham, etc yang aku tak faham existance-nya kepada bloodline aku. the rule is more and more powerful when it comes to your boyfriends. it's prohibited to salam them! terang-teranglah dorg ajnabi! dengg! obviously, i dont understand the way certain teenagers do their greet today, salam sesama cliques (boys & girls) as well as kissing their cheeks. nauzubillah. mintak jauh la benda ni. nak tampo je dorg ni. -.-"
p/s: phew, aku mengalami masalah nak memahamkan carta ni. apetah lagi nak mengingatinya.insyaAllah, tak lama lagi. pelan2 kayuh. :)
